Honoured to have been part of last night’s #InspireAwards2022 and to have been sat amongst some incredibly successful and inspirational people @rcgp

It’s taken nearly 170 years, but for the first time female doctors make up more than 50% of the UK’s medical register. This is a huge change that should be celebrated. However sexism is still an issue within medicine, with 9% of female doctors reporting unwelcome sexual comments or advances causing embarrassment, distress or offence, compared with 4% of men. The NHS must embrace flexible ways of working, and tackle harassment and sexism head on.

Junior Doctors are the doctors you see first for almost all interactions. They do emergency operations out of hours. They staff the intensive care unit. They’re the emergency resuscitation team. They deliver your babies. The term “junior” can often be misleading.
