Early Christians had around 100 holy texts. Church politics suppressed most of them, giving us the 27 books we now call the New Testament Excluded texts include the Gospel of Thomas, omitted because it undermined the authority of proto-orthodox Christianity. ("Proto-orthodox" was one of many early Jesus movements. It became the dominant one, largely because it was better at wielding institutional power – particularly in Rome & well-resourced urban centers) The Gospel of Thomas emphasized salvation through secret knowledge (gnosis) and self-discovery rather than through atonement of sin and faith in Christ's death and resurrection The text represents one of many "lost Christianities" - alternative forms of early Christian belief that didn't survive the standardization process that created orthodox Christianity

my hair & skin are so nice during pregnancy. i basically don’t have to wash my hair and it will stay clean for up to a week. my skin has no pimples & don’t use any special serums. when i’m not pregnant i have hormonal acne & my hair looks greasy daily. it’s not all terrible!

@Romy_Holland @julian_le_roux i had an emergency c-section (not traumatic) and my recovery was very chill. ymmv but i’m not convinced vaginal is always an easier recovery.

@julian_le_roux uhhh the recovery from c sections is pretty intense. major abdominal surgery is something i’d very much like to avoid for my entire life

it’s so lame that you have to actively do birth. like, every other thing you’d do at the hospital involves just lying there while doctors poke you or whatever. in 9 weeks i have to go basically get naked and perform some insane feat of endurance and pain tolerance that i’ve never done before and know nothing about, while a room of strangers watches.

i only have one kid and i’ve put off upgrading our kitchen area for 8 months because i know it’s gonna cost like $700 and that’s with using pieces from ikea and amazon

with 2 kids under 2 i do think this is incredibly difficult to pull off unless you take a few weekends per year to focus solely on simple home decor/design projects

for the house piece: idk if there is a 5 min hack but i do think you can make a lot of progress by working through one room at a time and identifying the easiest, cheapest, and highest impact elements to upgrade
