History doesn't repeat, but it sure does rhyme.

If you loved skateboarding, the internet, punk, rap music, tattoos, digital art, graffiti, zine culture, underground raves, or indie game dev before they were cool to the mainstream, you’re likely into onchain culture now. I've met so many bonafide legends from these subcultures quietly hanging out, basking in the scene. The same DIY spirit, the same 'fuck around and find out' energy, the same creative chaos. History doesn't repeat, but it sure does rhyme.

“Mint in person NFTs”
Not quite sure who could do this,
But to better integrate Artist’s digital and physical practices, i think we need a new form of Smart contracts/NFTs beside regular erc721/1155 and Open Editions
And that is some sort of mint in person model,
NFTs that can be minted only if you meet the artist in person and idk scan a QR Code on their phone or they generate a single use timed mint code or something for you to get the NFT while ensuring that it can’t be shared and used online by others to mint.
It’s the NFT equivalent of selling/gifting a signed copy or in more general cases giving an autograph, but in a way that can be actually useful later on as passes or membership tokens for future mints, drops and token gated content.
I know that there have been people who did this before in some way or another, but i think it’s time for platforms like Manifold or other user friendly smart contract builders and even art oriented marketplaces like FND to add such feature to their options.
I can’t wait for the day that i can attend an event and tell people something like “see you guys tomorrow at […] ask me for a [Artwork name] if you met me in person there”

@MuhjuArt Oh? What kind of security issues?
My idea (from a total no coder perspective) is a sort of generic erc721/1155 contract with a minting function that requires a specific hash (which gets generated on the artist’s phone on demand for example) or some sort of expiring qr codes
