Historic Judgement by Justice Purnendu Singh of the Patna HC. ☺️ So the story is - On Jan 19, 2008, a girl with her father went to Chaya Studio owned by Shri Himanshu Kumar Pathak ji in Amarpur, Bihar for a photograph. Pathak ji asked her father to remain outside on the pretext that he needed to check the photos on the computer. He then locked the door from inside and undressed himself. Pathakji removed her salwar, and forcefully started pressing her chest. The girl started crying and screaming. Hearing her cries, when her father forced open the door, Pathakji fled. The Additional Sessions Judge in Banka, Bihar then convicted Pathakji in attempt to r@pe charges. On this 9 July, the Bench of Justice Purnendu Singh held that attempting to remove a woman’s salwar and pressing her chest does “not unequivocally establish" an attempt to rape and acquitted Shri Himanshu Kumar Pathak ji. The court said there was no evidence of penetration "even to the slightest extent" to establish attempt to r@pe. ☺️ In a patriarchal society, a woman fought for 18 years. I even cannot imagine the hurdles she faced in her quest for justice and to punish her molester, only to see this day. Can you? However, according to sources, the judgment has triggered a wave of jubilation among all the existing, potential, and future rapists and molesters in India. Congratulations. ☺️
