dont buy a laptop with a subpar display. even if you just want to write code on it.
- these displays have subpar color gamut and contrast ratio - not ideal for longer view time. bad colors messes with syntax highlights, while bad contrast makes dark mode grey. which also might have medium to heavy backlight bleed.
- pwm of these displays are bad. long term exposure might cause eye fatigue. not all of us are same, so might get eye soreness pretty quick, including headaches.
- lacks sharpness. more exposure to unsharp text will cause eye fatigue, and will hurt eye muscles.
- refresh rate - recommending to go better than 60Hz. 60Hz is old, good for working but scrolling longer codes websites etc might cause fatigue too.
- Go for matte display - unnecessary reflections get cut off. although this is personal preference.
- get a bigger display but check its pixel densitiy or resolution. 1080p on 24-inch is barely fine. never go lower than that.
PS: this also comes down to your budget too. if you have an old laptop, use it and save for either a better monitor or a better laptop. noneed to rush. for the time being try the 20-20-20 rule to reduce eye fatigue.
20-20 rule: work for 20 min. then look away atleast 20ft distance for 20 seconds.
