@_umbranox okay, that's cool. love the headset/controller views.

todays cool thing isn't as cool as ludus but im afraid nothing is
when recreating the website from the ground up i wanted *everything* to feel as if it were intentional, from the dynamic page background performantly sampling a low res version of all the images on the page to rank the top 10 prettiest so we can pick a random one from the pool.. to ensuring consistency of what cursor pointer to pick depending on the context
so here's a neat little video on just some of the elements i put extra time and care into to ensure they feel just right

Interesting absolutes aside.
Fair enough. But ScoreSaber isn't just me anymore -- refer to the entire paragraph around this in the article sub-sectioned: "The bus".
Also, the vast majority of it will be open source? Go make your own tourney platform with it once it's out, bring it to TA even. The worlds your oyster.
I just wanna build cool shit. Use it if you want.

@Umbranoxus would this be something standalone players can use too, so they can play in usually pcvr-only tournaments?

as promised, cool thing for today; re: ludus -- while big tourneys like BSWC are pushed to use spout2 outputs per player for custom overlays, in-game every single aspect of ludus from visuals to the way it acts (like players moving around) is 100% configurable for organisers who just want to point obs at the beat saber window and call it a day
smaller, newer or one off tourneys should have an easier time getting off the ground... lowering that barrier is a huge win for keeping the scene alive & healthy
also a small note, while this was streamed live with replay chunks to emulate a tournament environment, this entire feature can be re-used locally on x amount of replays to make neat videos
anyway, starting off with one of my favourites: koth (king of the hill) mode

relieved that this is finally happening. despite there being lots in this post there was a bunch that didn't make the cut so ill probably post one cool thing per day once everyone's had a read and we're all on the same page
English

and for the tourney organisers, i know i mentioned spout2 sources for each player but seeing it is much better than just taking me at my word for it
(fps is only low in this video cause i used snipping tool to record it as obs was busy and i was too lazy to find a workaround, this was actually buttery smooth)

When I said "It's one of those projects where every solved piece seems to unlock three more ideas." in the Patreon post I really meant it cuz now I'm thinking of an entire tournament management flow that goes deeper which starts with "create new tournament" on the website which allows organisers to invite players, manage teams, apply for badges, manage brackets, advertise the tournament in the planned social feed we have planned, create a dedicated page for it that's both live updated & historical in nature.
Gonna stop that train of thought there though. Focus on what's infront of me.
tl;dr future is bright

You got it right for BSWC. That's mostly how it'll work.
After BSWC the vision is for it to be the foundation of all our other live services we have planned.
End-game is; if you and your players have ScoreSaber installed, you can create rooms for your tourney & manage them through the ScoreSaber website, they can join them in-game.
English

@LillieFoxVR The client & core functionality behind how we're doing rendering? Yep.
The live services backend? Not until later when we begin open sourcing other portions of the backend
English

Of course. All normal mods are supported. Players base game preferences like lighting overrides will be synced. Player sourced custom sabers / notes will be a toggle (organisers may want to use their own, branded sabers).
A websocket will also be available so organisers that go the spout2 route (or a hybrid) will receive all types of events to wire in to their overlay (score info per player, score info per team, even per player good cut / bad cut / misses / bomb hits will be readable from the overlay consuming the data live)
English

@Umbranoxus Will there be a way to customize the look of the gameplay shown because default game looks a bit meh for tournament viewings. Things like hitscore visualiser arent very clear on screen
English

I think they should stick to just these two languages

@akawshi ScoreSaber 2 supports localisation from day 1. We will have an easy to use online platform for the community to assist with the translation effort! We will be recruiting for this soon, so keep an eye out & be sure to get in touch!
