V2 of my wood laptop for the @daylightco is almost finished and it’s extremely satisfying absolutely unreasonable cost: 70€ just for the Japanese torque hinges, 10+ hours to compensate for my amateur craftsmanship and trial and error approach everything hand sawn, sanded, and screwed it’s so fun building my own computer.

I’ve in fact worked on the daylight long before it launched, this is a continuation of that work :) Also building a custom OS layer on top of android, and ofc @supermirror_app to bring the Mac to this humble wood/paper/amber laptop. The goal was always to make “our own” computer, one that feels great to use, one that is so different from whatever has become the norm, one that’s human-friendly, calm, built for creativity and thoughtfulness.

@realTannerMeade @daylightco Tanner! Epic to be in touch. In fact I’ve thought about getting a headless MacBook to make a supermirror native build like this. Should be doable. To be fair it might need some more reliability work to function non-stop without issues. Please let me know how this goes!!

Hey @_welf 👋 long time no talk since Potential. I literally just bought a Boox 5C and was trying to find something like SuperMirror and you showed up in my algo. My M1 air 13 inch I was using 4 years ago has a broken screen nowadays and was wondering if you've tried to make SuperMirror work with a headless macbook yet? The trouble is auto-initiating the screen blindly. I'll have to give SuperMirror a try tomorrow when my 5C comes.

Started building a wooden laptop-shaped encasing for the @daylightco + keys2go2 keyboard today. Halfway there, got the pieces in place. Really enjoying the process!

I guess I just built a wooden laptop with an amber-backlit paper-like display. It’s chunky af and still got some rough edges and loose screws. But I love it already.
