To be clear, I have every intention to finish this one up to par, as it's very important both personally and within the greater scope of my work; but it has become a source of tremendous, continuous agony in the present to tie my life to its completion, and I've come to resent it

Every day I force myself to wake up and take another step towards hauling this bloated carcass of a project over the finish line, all just to appease my vanity and avoid condemning myself to the irony of its title, is another step towards never wanting to make another game again

@dannybirchall yes to both from what I can tell. Running offline locally would take a lot of time/power, people usually offset the processing to somewhere else (e.g google colab).

Where is the hard/valuable/difficult-to-replicate bit of the image generators that are all currently available as web services? Do they require masses of data to remember what things look like? Presumably masses of processing power?

@jamesdgreig yeah I felt much the same - also for me mean art is quite different from art showing hard or depressing subjects, and I see hope as very different to feel-good - I think we could def do with some more meaningful hope

I don’t actually think we suffer from a surfeit of mean/ cynical art atm tbh, I just think people are misrepresenting her point

This woman is being dragged as though she’s some marvel/ Ted lasso fan calling for more feel-good mush but in her defence I think she’s giving more of a Raymond Williams vibe! Context collapse rears it’s ugly once more
