@Krawallll @spicyrig63 @adfreebrowsing Is that certainly true. I feel it's far more likely he just put it into the wrong one in the moment and no one realised for a while. Would be easy to do in gloves, with a helmet on while driving when you look at how many modes are on that switch.

@spicyrig63 @adfreebrowsing You can see the strat mode switch on the wheel. The driver can change it. He was saying he had been stuck in the wrong mode previously from the safety car restart and he then fixed it. It's something the pit wall should notice but it was his initial mistake.

@a1t3gg @adfreebrowsing Respectfully disagree here. George’s radio clearly stated he’s “stuck on the wrong strat”, smth he can’t fix from inside the car. Moreover, Marcus and co didn’t issue him any new instructions after this occurred, so you can infer there was nothing the driver could have done

@spicyrig63 @adfreebrowsing The pit wall don't change what mapping is on what mode during the race, the available maps/modes are pre determined. The team should have caught he was in the wrong mode but it was George's original error.

@a1t3gg @adfreebrowsing yep and he did! you can see him reach down and select strat 5 just before starting lap 11 when Marcus radio'ed. pit wall forgot to put the correct deployment mapping to strat 5 switch. team also forgot to monitor his telemetry to catch that he was in the wrong mapping for 2 laps

@adfreebrowsing well yes? his team locked off his energy deployment in the wrong strat for safety car restart, let him lose 1 position, didn't tell him about it for 2 laps? he had to figure it out himself before calling them out

F1 Fans consensus that FIA should adopt: 🔸Teams should be allowed to run on either V10, V8 or V6.. 🔸Give a max limit of 19000 rpm & 1100 HP ( 80% ICE & 20% Electric). Sustainable fuels 🔸Let the teams choose what they want to run. This will be so good for the sport Anymore we should add?

unfortunately this is very true. kimi’s lack of experience is being entirely hidden by the fact that his garage is one of the most experienced winning garage in the entire sport.
FrosyaNaMoroze@FrosyaNaMoroze

This is George's biggest problem. He doesn't have a winner's garage behind him. Kimi has Bono - many years of winning experience, authority, knowledge. This is as much the race engineers' battle as it is the drivers' battle, and George is at a disadvantage from the start.

andrea stella expressed frustration over the limited engine information coming from mercedes HPP, saying mclaren is forced to run the car and then react to the data instead of being able to simulate and properly predict how it will behave on track. toto wolff said that suppliers can’t make everybody happy when asked about concerns from customer teams.

@thighstappen Kind of impossible for a real answer on this. General rule of thumb in modern chassis design is everything is a slave to aero, so this is likely an aero decision. Teams will be able to achieve the dynamic characteristics they think they want with either push or pull rods.

@cytrusf1 I think this is the problem with younger fans (and fuck, i'm not that older than him lol), they all think that straight line racing is somehow racing at all... Formula 1, wec and others have never been about straight line.

@cytrusf1 Everyone said the same about the current regs before they were implemented, and now they're the fastest cars ever. We'll just have to wait and see

@hvdm1987 @BernabeuNights Well done. You have just introduced a new limit, that being the proficiency of driverless vehicles. Do you see how this works now?

@hvdm1987 @BernabeuNights F1 cars are designed primarily by the principle of 'righty tighty', you make a good point. You might be way better at understanding what it takes for a driver to be fast, but no matter the driver, they cannot overcome the limits of their machinery. Very simple. Just like you.

@a1t3gg @BernabeuNights If I know how to make a car go faster around a track than you do. By A LOT. That by definition means I understand better what it takes to be fast. You know the difference between lefty loosy and righty tighty. That’s about it.

@a1t3gg @BernabeuNights God you fucking nerds are so fucking annoying, why do you insist on being so overly fucking opinionated on something you know fuck all about? The only time you go fast is when you rush to take a shit yet you insist on knowing better what going fast means. Fuck off idiot.

@hvdm1987 @BernabeuNights I agree that a person has a limit in a car. But you cannot drive a car beyond its limit. That was the question.

You can't break the laws of physics, that is indeed correct. Not even Max can do that. But at this point this discussion is turning into semantics. And I am not going to waste my time with that. I could give you any car to drive around any track for any number of laps, till you feel confident that you have hit the limit on every single corner. Then have some more talented guy step in and absolutely demolish your laptime. The limit is a combination of car and driver. Not every driver is able to extract the same out of a car. But you're just a booksmart nerd who doesn't understand the difference between theory and practice.

@hvdm1987 @BernabeuNights The limit is defined from physics. Yes a lot of these parameters are constantly changing but they are still the limiting factor of speed for a car. Maybe you would need to be an engineer to understand this better than a driver, if that's what you are.

Herman@hvdm1987·
@a1t3gg @BernabeuNights Yes it does, you just think that "the limit" is some kind of fixed set of parameters determined by physics. That is because you don't know your head from your ass when it comes to driving a car around a track.

@hvdm1987 @BernabeuNights The car has a limit but it is hard to know it, for example it is not possible for an F1 car to lap Silverstone <1 min no matter the driver. Max is the best driver on the grid, because he is the one that can get closest to this limit. The limit doesn't move because of the driver.

Yes and no. But you’d have to be a driver to understand. “The limit” is not a fixed line, it moves all the time for different reasons. Max can take a car to a limit nobody can. Same is true for Senna, or Alonso, or Hakkinen or Schumacher. So you’re right and wrong at the same time.

Can someone explain to me why everyone is quoting this 60 psi figure from Piastri and acting like it is significant. I must not understand something because 60psi is really very low pressure for brake fluid, in high spec motorsport brakes, pressure can easily reach 1000-2000 psi.
