@a33ik There are only two options: be like South Korea or Singapore and align with a hegemon accepting the tradeoffs, or go nuclear that opens up the scenario of mutually assured destruction.

1. People who pay, dictate the terms. People who borrow have to accept those terms. 2. Old European powers paid for all their new invasions through existing invasions. So, if they want to hold on territory as well, EU should pay the costs and take responsibility. 3. India has lost territory to China and Pakistan. Nobody outside of India cared, because it did not affect their life. Why would non-Europeans care about European territorial problems? 4. US is still the global growth engine.

@RajYRaman That’s exactly what I’m saying. If signers of Budapest memorandum are not able/willing to help Ukraine to protect our country and people from unprovoked aggression we have full rights to recover our nuclear potential.

Having come from a country that got pushed around a lot until early 2000, I can only say that for the countries that are not in the big boys club, there was never a long term alliance (as they were not considered equals), only strategic transactional partners. Every Western power has always looked after its own interest first, and that is why even India had to persue nuclear weapons for deterrence after Bangladesh war.

The US federal government might stop funding Ukraine, but it doesn't mean that you have to do it as well. Every dollar counts and will be used to help Ukraine and the Ukrainian army.

@RajYRaman ruZZia broke their word - nothing unusual. ruZZians always were liars and betrayers. I can talk a lot explaining that their imperial behavior that hasn't disappear yet. But the USA and the UK should keep their word, don't you think?

Let us understand: the United States has given us $106 billion in support against Russian aggression. And now we have to sign a deal where we give back $500 billion to continue receiving aid and deter Russian aggression? Ukraine have already paid with everything we had, money, territory, resources, and most importantly, people. When will Russia pay for their aggression?
