I don't hate or dislike cops. I respect and admire them. It seems like a hard job. Of course there are corrupt cops—there are corrupt any kind of people—but this doesn't make me hate or dislike all cops. I believe cops wouldn't be necessary in a partnership society—there weren't cops in aboriginal societies or in Neolithic cultures like Çatalhöyük or Hongshan—but we don't live in a partnership society. I always felt alienated from people who "hate" cops. I can understand certain people hating cops, like gang members or, say, Stza from Leftover Crack who lived in a squat and dealt with cops regularly. But the hatred that many liberals, including some of my friends, have for all cops—even black cops and cops who want to protect their friends and family and community—seems so obviously misguided to me. Thank you for reading some of my thoughts on cops.
