Tillis says he’ll oppose all Fed nominees until the Powell legal matter is “fully resolved.” This will almost certainly prevent the Banking Committee from confirming Fed nominees.

If there were any remaining doubt whether advisers within the Trump Administration are actively pushing to end the independence of the Federal Reserve, there should now be none. It is now the independence and credibility of the Department of Justice that are in question.    I will oppose the confirmation of any nominee for the Fed—including the upcoming Fed Chair vacancy—until this legal matter is fully resolved.

By a 2-1 opinion, the Ninth Circuit just held that the president can federalize National Guard forces and deploy them when protesters shine flashlights in the eyes of ICE officers. It’s one of the most dangerous and legally flawed court decisions I’ve seen this year. 1/23

This is a disgraceful message. There was a soldier that I served with in the army that later was killed in Mosul, Iraq that said the reason he joined the military was because he believed that it was the greatest force for good that the world has ever known. He said the military not only taught its soldiers to be lethal but it also taught us to be compassionate and empathetic and care about not only the American people but also freedom loving and seeking people from all over the globe. This is the true warrior ethos that so many of us veterans know and love. I’m thinking about him a lot tonight and will be damned if sons of bitches like Trump and Hegseth will transform our great military into something resembling the Russians. His memory and service must not be in vein.

Trump’s TruthSocial order to send troops to Portland is ridiculous. He’s trying to look tough after he failed to use tragedy to cancel Kimmel & others, and for the shutdown. If he really wanted to help local LE with ICE protests, he’d ask them how. But he wants fear & violence.
