The next facility we visited with our partners from La Maison Ukrainienne 🇨🇵 was a medical facility in the Odesa region. Bandages, medications, medical devices, hygiene supplies—everything donated by our French friends—will come in handy at this medical facility. I can say without exaggeration that the specialists working there are true heroes! It was a pleasure to personally meet Dr. Mohammed Zakaria, the head of the surgical department, who became known throughout the country due to an incident that occurred last January. As a result of enemy shelling of the hospital, a shock wave shattered the windows in the operating room right in the middle of surgery. The doctor literally shielded the patient with his own body and completed the emergency surgery, despite being wounded by shrapnel himself. You could say that the woman who underwent surgery was given a second chance at life. We are proud of our true heroes! A huge thank you to our partners in France for their constant support! Behind me, you can see 20,000 teddy bears—each one representing a Ukrainian child who has been kidnapped and abducted by Russia, the Russian Federation, by Putin. In red, there will be a large sign clearly stating: “Putin abducted 20,000 Ukrainian children. Bring kids back.” All of this is part of a large installation that will be presented this Thursday, April 23, at 1:00 PM, and will help people grasp the scale of how many children we are talking about. Right now, I’m on site where everything is being put together and prepared for this installation. You can see volunteers from Razom for Ukraine (@razomforukraine) placing the teddy bears on the fence to create this powerful display—showing that each teddy bear represents one child.
