Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan@UstAbdulrahman·
AMAR Reflections: None of us question if we love Allah, but have you asked yourself, am I living in a way that makes Allah love me? For Allah to love you is not just an honour, it is the pinnacle of ultimate success that a human being can reach on this earth. It means your lord, the one who created the heavens and the earth and everything in between, the one who knows what is concealed in every heart and controls all of our affairs has chosen you, specifically, to love. It is a love unlike any other, a love that is not based on the superficial, appearance or accolades but rather, a love based on your heart, sincerity, repentance and always striving to turn back to him. When Allah loves a servant of his, everything changes, their steps are guided, the path is illuminated for them, their heart is softened and their affairs are filled with ease. Pause, and reflect over these Hadiths dear brother or sister. When Allah loves a servant: إِذَا أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ الْعَبْدَ نَادَى جِبْرِيلَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ فُلَانًا فَأَحِبَّهُ، فَيُحِبُّهُ جِبْرِيلُ، ثُمَّ يُنَادِي فِي أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ فُلَانًا فَأَحِبُّوهُ، فَيُحِبُّهُ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ، ثُمَّ يُوضَعُ لَهُ الْقَبُولُ فِي الْأَرْضِ "When Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibreel: 'Allah loves so-and-so, so love him.' So Jibreel loves him, then he calls out to the inhabitants of the heavens: 'Allah loves so-and-so, so love him,' and they love him. Then acceptance is placed for him on earth." (Bukhari & Muslim) Allah draws close to His servant: وَمَا يَزَالُ عَبْدِي يَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيَّ بِالنَّوَافِلِ حَتَّى أُحِبَّهُ، فَإِذَا أَحْبَبْتُهُ كُنْتُ سَمْعَهُ الَّذِي يَسْمَعُ بِهِ، وَبَصَرَهُ الَّذِي يُبْصِرُ بِهِ، وَيَدَهُ الَّتِي يَبْطِشُ بِهَا، وَرِجْلَهُ الَّتِي يَمْشِي بِهَا "My servant continues to draw near to Me through voluntary deeds until I love him. And when I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks…" (Sahih al-Bukhari) Everyone wants to be loved, that is the nature of human beings. We spend our lives chasing that feeling through people, but, ponder over the statement of this illustrious scholar, in which he makes us cognisant of an undeniable reality: Ibn al-Qayyim: فِي الْقَلْبِ فَاقَةٌ لَا يَسُدُّهَا إِلَّا مَحَبَّةُ اللَّهِ "In the heart is a need that nothing can fill except the love of Allah." Ask yourself a question, dear brother or sister and be sincere in your answer, when was the last time you questioned What does Allah love? When was the last time you asked yourself, am I doing that which Allah loves? 10 types of People Allah Loves: Those Who Do Good إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ "Indeed, Allah loves those who do good." (Qur'an 2:195) Not just in worship but also in character, kindness, and how they treat others. Those who always choose to do what is right. Those Who Have Taqwa إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ "Indeed, Allah loves the righteous (those who have taqwa)." (Qur'an 9:4) They remain conscious of Allah, even when they are in the depths of the darkness and no one is watching. Those Who Are Patient وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الصَّابِرِينَ "And Allah loves the patient." (Qur'an 3:146) Patient in pursuing the worship of Allah, patient during hardships and patient in the restraint of their desires by staying away from sin. Those Who Rely Upon Him إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَوَكِّلِينَ "Indeed, Allah loves those who rely upon Him." (Qur'an 3:159) Those who place their full trust and reliance in Allah and submit their affairs to him. Those who never question the promise of Allah and rely on him even when their situation looks impossible. Those Who Constantly Repent إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ "Indeed, Allah loves those who constantly repent." (Qur'an 2:222) Notice how this ayah does not say those who never sin, but rather, those who always return and repent. Whenever they go astray, they always return, no matter how far they have ventured. Allah does not expect perfection from you to love you, he expects you to always turn back to him. Those Who Purify Themselves وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ "And He loves those who purify themselves." (Qur'an 2:222) Those who ensure they maintain purity in their intentions, their hearts and their bodies. They strive to be pure externally but place just as much importance on remaining pure internally. Those Who Are Just إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ "Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly." (Qur'an 5:42) Those who are fair and just, not just when it is easy but even when it is difficult, even if it means being just against themselves, their loved ones and even a person they may dislike. Those Who Stand Firm Together Upon Truth إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ صَفًّا كَأَنَّهُمْ بُنْيَانٌ مَرْصُوصٌ "Indeed, Allah loves those who stand in His cause in rows as though they are a solid structure." (Qur'an 61:4) Those who stand together, united, unwavering and firm upon the truth. Those Who Follow the Prophet قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ "Say, [O Muhammad], 'If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you…'" (Qur'an 3:31) A guarantee and a promise every single one of us should rush towards. An undeniable reality is that your love for Allah is proven through following our beloved prophet Muhammad. Your adherence to the sunnah of our beloved prophet acts as a marker of the depths of your love for Allah and his beloved messenger. Those Who Are Gentle and Humble إِنَّ اللَّهَ رَفِيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ فِي الْأَمْرِ كُلِّهِ "Indeed, Allah is gentle and loves gentleness in all الأمور." (Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim) They are gentle in their dealings, approachable, and humble. They are considerate of other people's hearts and feelings and they try their utmost best to deal with others in the best of ways. Know, dear brother or sister, it is not just about questioning if you love Allah, or making a mere claim, it is asking yourself if you are living in a way that will make Allah love you. Part of being a perceptive believer is asking yourself questions that propel you towards betterment, success and salvation in this life and the hereafter. Examine yourself, honestly and deeply. Which of the ten listed above do you fall under? Do you recognise any of the traits mentioned above in yourself? Remember, Allah does not expect perfection from you, he wants you to be diligent and strive. After reading those ten, select a few, perhaps even one and strive, relentlessly to adopt those characteristics. People's love rises and falls, their opinions shift, their presence is temporary, Allah's love is the complete opposite, when Allah is with you, when Allah loves you, nothing is missing from you. When Allah loves you, you do not need anyone or anything except him. When Allah loves you, you have everything dear brother or sister.

Sins are not compatible with your body. Your fitrah keeps rejecting it and when you force it, you break down from the inside. Depression, sadness, emptiness. Your soul dehydrates without obedience the same way your body dehydrates without water.
