Burnette says that "people should strive to work at a place where they're happy" rather than trying to get to what society views as the top. #dburnetteonthespot

"The human condition is that we categorize the world around us and the American condition is that we racialize the world around us," Burnette said. #dburnetteonthespot

Part of the reason Burnette enjoys education journalism so much is because "Schools contain some of the most interesting people in American society."

According to @Daarel, in order to improve the field of journalism, journalists need to be way more reflective on the craft than they are now.

"People are channeling their frustrations about society at large through the school system," Burnette said. #dburnetteonthespot

Having come from a long line of educators, Burnette knew he wanted to write about education. After witnessing the contrast between the "have and have-nots in the school system" he wanted to better understand education policy and politics. #dburnetteonthespot
