May 30th: Today we are featuring the Bellingham riots in Washington. This happened on September 4th, 1907. A mob of 400-500 working white men gathered to drive South Asian migrant workers out of town. #AAPIHM

May 29th: Today we are featuring the Rock Springs Massacre. This occurred in September 2nd, 1885 in Wyoming. The intentions behind the massacre included the jealously white workers had when they realized they had been replaced by Chinese strike breakers. #AAPIHM

May 28th: Today we are featuring the California Alien Land Act Law of 1913. This law prohibited “aliens ineligible for citizenship” from owning agricultural land. The purpose of this law was to discourage Asians and undesirable immigrants from settling permanently in the US.

May 26th: Today we are featuring Vera Wang, a prodigious fashion designer who is known for her “iconic” wedding dresses. Wang grew up privileged on the Upper East Side of New York City. She was the daughter of two Chinese immigrants. #AAPIHM

May 25th: Today we are featuring the People v. Hall case. This case which revolves around a Chinese man who witnessed a white man murder someone, ruled that Chinese people could not testify against white defendants. #AAPIHM

May 24th: Today we are featuring the arrival of Filipino Americans in the US, which also marks the first settlement of Asian Americans. In 1763, Filipino Americans established the first official settlement in St. Malo Louisiana. Some people recognize them as “Manilamen.” #AAPIHM

May 23rd: Today we are featuring the 442nd regiment which was the most decorated US infantry regiment for its size. The unit consisted of a majority second-generation Japanese American soldiers. This unit was had earned nearly 9,500 Purple Hearts and 21 Medals of Honor. #AAPIHM
