@PaushaliSahu Books can never be replaced by electronic reading devices, not for me at least. Always good to feel the pages turn with the sweet smell of old paper and the joy of finding odd bookmarks hidden in old books by their previous owners. Always an exhilarating experience when reading!

It was just another quiet afternoon.
I was curled up on the couch reading a book by Amitav Ghosh. Maa sat in the balcony immersed in a book on Sarada Maa, and my husband was at the dining area, lost in a book on famous legal battles.
At one point, I looked up and felt an unexpected rush of peace. Three people, sitting together, yet each travelling through a different world through pages instead of screens.
Somehow in the age of constant notifications and scrolling, moments like these have become rare! And probably that's why they feel so precious.

@aadildesai Britain turned to sugar beet after WWI when U-boat blockades exposed reliance on imported cane sugar. The first UK beet factory opened in 1912 but large-scale production began from 1925 under government support, creating a secure home-grown sugar supply.
