Ensuring our City’s services are reachable means making sure programs reflect linguistic diversity. It was great to join @AAFederation in celebrating the first worker cooperative for AAPI language interpreters. Thanks to all the advocates for advancing linguistic accessibility.

I was proud to join @AAFederation for the launch of the citywide Asian Languages Interpreter Co-op today. Language equity is crucial for ensuring access to the range of services and opportunities we have citywide. For too long, AAPI New Yorkers have been left without (1/2)

Many people and organizations came together to make this initiative possible, and we are so grateful to the Language Justice Collaborative, community partners who helped with recruitment, elected officials who advocate for language access, and the co-op members themselves!

In the current assault on immigrants and their loved ones, we see the same forces that led to the murder of six Asian women and we see the same injustices that we must collectively fight back against.

Today marks five years since the murders of eight people in Atlanta, six of whom were Asian spa workers. In the memory of the victims, we continue to speak up against anti-Asian racism and anti-immigrant discrimination.

New Yorkers: You have rights, no matter your status, and deserve to know and exercise them. The city can do more to ensure this information reaches people who need it, and @CMAlexaAviles' NYC Know Your Rights Act will educate more communities about legal sanctuary protections.

The Immigration Committee heard my bill The NYC Know Your Rights Act (INT55). I was grateful to be joined by organizers from across the city who work tirelessly to educate NYers about their legal rights when engaging with ICE. It’s time our government does its part!

A quarter of New York's undocumented immigrants are Asian, and our communities need to know that the City has our backs. AAF joined immigrant advocates today to call on the City to pass the NYC Know Your Rights Act, the NYC Trust Act, and expand sanctuary protections!

Trusted CBOs deliver crisis and mental health emergency support but they need more funding to meet rising demand. We also recommended @NYCCouncil develop and publish equity-centered performance metrics & deliver multilingual public education campaigns to help reduce stigma.

We urged @NYCCouncil to consult Asian-led, immigrant-serving organizations when reviewing 911 reporting data and to include such orgs on the 988 taskforce. Furthermore, building partnerships with community hotlines can improve in-language, culturally-competent services for NYers.
