Wong Kim Ark was born in San Francisco, the son of Chinese citizens. In 1895, he was returning from a trip to China but was denied re-entry. Officials said he wasn't a US citizen and couldn't be one because he was Chinese. Wong took his case to the Supreme Court and made history.

SNAP enrollment in New York is declining as new work requirements threaten to reduce these numbers further. Only 40% of eligible Asian households in New York participate in SNAP—meaning over half are not receiving benefits they deserve, despite many struggling to afford food.
