I’ve never seen a movie as unsubtle as Oppenheimer be misconstrued so much by the media illiterate. Can’t imagine your takeaways from the movie being that we should “learn to stop worrying and love the bomb” and that Oppie had “rizz.”

I ended up deeply disliking red white and royal blue instead of thinking it would mid like I expected :( it felt like watching a lifetime movie and/or a campaign ad :(((

Being rampantly misogynist and anti-communist undercuts your movie’s “bombs are bad” message actually! I already knew USians’ knowledge of pacific history was abysmal but I’m astounded at how many people cannot analyze beyond plot :)

This gets at one of the huge issues with media literacy right now where people conflate establishing a tone or concept in order to subvert it with advocating for that tone or concept. The point of the story is to show Oppenheimer going from idealistic to haunted. You can’t do that without showing the innocent, idealistic portion. Same with Barbie. People keep talking about parts of the movie instead of the whole of the movie.
