George Clooney plays a suave bank robber staying one step ahead of a U.S. Marshall, played with steely sensuality by Jennifer Lopez, in Steven Soderbergh’s OUT OF SIGHT, adapted from Elmore Leonard’s 1996 best-selling novel. Screening tomorrow and Wednesday in our series Disorganized Crime: BIG MISTAKES and Dan Levy’s Cinematic Accomplices, inspired by BIG MISTAKES star and co-creator Dan Levy’s favorite crime capers! paristheaternyc.com/film/out-of-si…

Research for a recent conversation with @aarondtracy inspired me to reread Roald Dahl. We’ll air it in full next week: for now, please check out “The Secret World of Roald Dahl,” as it is the best exploration of the author out today.

THE LAST PICTURE SHOW (1971) ✨ Entering the collection on 4K in November! One of the key films of the American seventies cinema renaissance, this Peter Bogdanovich masterpiece is an aching portrait of a dying West, adapted from Larry McMurtry’s novel.

SWEENEY TODD. The reason to see this production is Annaleigh Ashford. She is hilarious. In fact, the whole musical shifts over to her energy, and rarely seems as hiply dark as what was probably intended. Yes, there’s blood and blah-blah-blah, but more importantly there’s comedy.
