Having a blast in Banff! Super super busy, but still enjoyed the Hot Springs, Waldhouse schnitzel, Johnston Canyon waterfalls and cruising around Banff on public transit.

Our next stop was Osoyoos for some great views and wonderful wines. Very hot, quite windy, but gorgeous all around.

Cory Doctorow NO LONGER ON TWIT TER
We're living through one of those moments when millions of people become suddenly and overwhelmingly interested in fair use, one of the subtlest and worst-understood aspects of copyright law. It's not a subject you can master by skimming a Wikipedia article! 1/

The Tour de France starts in four days. While no Canadian has ever won the Tour de France, some Canadians have won stages of the Tour. Let's learn more shall we? Alex Steida was the first Canadian and North American to wear the yellow jersey. He accomplished that in 1986. Arguably the Canadian who did the best at the Tour de France was Steve Bauer. He competed in 11 Tours. He finished 10th in 1985 and in 1988 he finished fourth. He won the first stage in 1988 and held the yellow jersey for five days (pictured). In 1990, he held the Yellow Jersey for nine stages but finished 27th. Hugo Houle won the 16th stage in the 2022 Tour de France, becoming the second Canadian to win a stage. He has competed in five Tour de France so far, and his best result was in 2023 when he finished 38th. Michael Woods became the third Canadian to win a stage of the Tour de France in 2023 when he won stage 9. He has competed in four Tours, placing his highest in 2019 when he was 32nd. Ryder Hesjedal finished first in the Team Time Trial in 2011 in Stage 2. In 2010, he finished fifth overall in the Tour, his best result out of seven Tours. Svein Tuft finished first in Stage 4 in 2013 as part of the Team Time Trial. In three Tours, his highest ranking was 131st in 2014.
