Jeff Regester and I helped David Jackson record high-speed video of a slinky released from uniform circular motion. If you like @veritasium, you're going to love this! youtu.be/AL2Chc6p_Kk

@QuantumBrandon Thanks. I will check it out. My main question was how the presenters were defining “data”. I always define it as measurements. I describe the output of a simulation as model data or simulated data. How do the PICUP folks define data?

@LCTTA @drmag00 Small world indeed! I started working with John Risley in summer 1994. He was doing teacher workshops. I met Larry Martin at an AAPT meeting in summer 96. In summer 97 Larry and I created WebAssign. Larry and John had an enormous impact on my life.

@achmorrison I enjoyed walking down memory lane. It was a good reminder that organizations like Global Physics Department start and stop but are very influential during their time. There’s an ebb and flow to social professional development. Thanks for the presentation!

I'm giving a talk (if all goes well, right now) about my use of twitter for mostly connecting with other physics teachers. #AAPTSM22 #iteachphysics (This won't be threaded, and I may get the time zone wrong. It's sort of an experiment!)

Thanks @noraguidegalaxy @achmorrison for your presentations on social media. I found the differences in the platforms, audience, and usage interesting.

After learning how to transform parent functions, my 9th grade students really impressed me with what they created by using functions, transformations, and @Desmos You never know what they will come up with when they are given extra room to be creative

My district’s K-12 science specialist sent out a request for input on which of the following might be useful to HS Physics teachers for distance learning lab work. There are nine HSs in my district. • Pivot Interactives • Labster • Gizmos Your thoughts? #iteachphysics

@LCTTA I suggest reformatting your HD and installing the new OS on a clean HD. Updating an OS to a new version rarely goes well for me.

Probably going to update to Catalina today, first the MacBook Pro then the iMac. Anything I should watch out for? I’m already planning to reinstall Anaconda from scratch since it doesn’t take long.

Listening to a fascinating talk by Heather Lewandowski from UC Boulder on Engaging Students in Authentic Scientific Practices in Physics Lab courses. One key takeaway: They no longer have students write traditional lab reports at any level in the physics department.

@pricepd I have not explored having my students create accounts on trinket. Yes I think that would allow for saving programs.
