TEACHER URINATES IN CLASSROOM
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE TEACHER NEXT??
A middle school teacher with more than 25 years in the classroom is now on leave after a student’s cellphone video allegedly captured him doing something shocking just moments before students walked in.
A teacher at Granite Oaks Middle School in Rocklin, California has been placed on administrative leave after a cellphone video surfaced showing him urinating into a container inside his classroom shortly before students entered.
The video shows the teacher unbuttoning his pants and urinating into a canister just off camera. As he finishes and adjusts his clothing, he can be heard repeatedly saying, “gosh, that’s good…gosh gosh gosh gosh gosh.”
In the recording, he then grabs the container and walks across the classroom saying, “love it, love it.” Once out of frame, the sound of liquid being poured out can reportedly be heard.
About a minute later, the school bell rings, and students begin entering the classroom. In the background of the recording, students can be heard whispering and giggling as they take their seats. Reports indicate that no students were inside the classroom at the moment the teacher urinated.
Students identified the educator as Dan Champ, an eighth-grade history teacher and Associated Student Body adviser who has reportedly been teaching for more than 25 years, according to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
School officials say they first learned about the video on February 25, after a parent brought it to their attention. Later that same afternoon, families at Granite Oaks received a message informing them that a school employee had been placed on leave while the situation is investigated.
Champ has not responded publicly to requests for comment.
The incident has sparked debate among parents and the community about professional conduct in schools and what disciplinary action, if any, should follow.
After 25 years of teaching, should an incident like this end a teacher’s career?
