A couple reflections on the quantum computing breakthrough we just announced...
Most of us grew up learning there are three main types of matter that matter: solid, liquid, and gas. Today, that changed.
After a nearly 20 year pursuit, we’ve created an entirely new state of matter, unlocked by a new class of materials, topoconductors, that enable a fundamental leap in computing.
It powers Majorana 1, the first quantum processing unit built on a topological core.
We believe this breakthrough will allow us to create a truly meaningful quantum computer not in decades, as some have predicted, but in years.
The qubits created with topoconductors are faster, more reliable, and smaller.
They are 1/100th of a millimeter, meaning we now have a clear path to a million-qubit processor.
Imagine a chip that can fit in the palm of your hand yet is capable of solving problems that even all the computers on Earth today combined could not!
Sometimes researchers have to work on things for decades to make progress possible.
It takes patience and persistence to have big impact in the world.
And I am glad we get the opportunity to do just that at Microsoft.
This is our focus: When productivity rises, economies grow faster, benefiting every sector and every corner of the globe.
It’s not about hyping tech; it’s about building technology that truly serves the world.

@KFC_India If you'll are finished waiting for the eggs to hatch and chickens to grow, can I have my food now?? It's 2 hours since it was supposed to be delivered (almost 2.40 since order placed)

@sandeep_PT While this will prevent further desertification, what might be long term climate impact of this given this might cause a massive change in wind/rain/temperature patterns, apart from animal movements

The most intriguing part of the Bhavish - Kamra exchange was the job offer Bhavish extended to Kamra for repairing Ola Scooter.
It raised so many questions. Like
Is the Ola scooter so easy to repair that even someone like Kamra can do it?
If it is so easy to repair, then why are scooters poling up at service centres?
Has Ola started a 'Bhavish Agarwal Repair your own scooter' scheme where you can get employed as an Ola scooter mechanic & repair your own scooter quickly?
And then if by some remote chance if Kamra actually accepts the Ola offer, it also raises a question on what is worse.
Buying an Ola scooter which has a close to 90% probability of breaking down and spending more than a month in the service centre?
Or
Getting your scooter repaired by Kunal Kamra
So many questions.

@5K4R @AarizRizvi @chiragbarjatya Almost all vehicles have the option to lower the focus height of the beam even on low beam, but practically everyone keeps it at the highest level (awareness issue?) which is not even needed in city roads... Reducing it to 1-2 focuses it on the ground and prevents this problem
English

@AarizRizvi @chiragbarjatya Bring back the bulb. Even with auto dimming still hurts. It's the default setting in new cars, and I noticed it still dazzles. I'm sure most drivers don't know how to turn on high beam anyway, let alone turning it off.
English

Noticed one big drawback of driving a sedan in the era of SUVs – most of the headlights from oncoming traffic hit you right in the face, making it feel like everyone is driving with high beams
But that’s not the case. I tried flashing at some of them and they flashed back, making me realise they’re on low beams 😐

Most of the food we eat in cities of India is sprayed with illegal chemical fertilisers, making us likely to die of cancer. But that’s okay because the air we breathe is so polluted we are likely to die of COPD or lung disease before the cancer gets us. Lol just kidding we are way more likely to die first in a road accident on a highway because some idiot drives on the wrong side or the poorly made road bursts a tyre.
But we will let none of that distract us from doing fundraisers for supporting violence by people who speak our same language or eat our same food or like the same brand of bar soap. We got our priorities damn right

Thr most beautiful aspect about the Indian govt system that it is so complicated that you can easily shift blame on to someone else. You don't have to take any responsibility whatsoever.
If a citizen complains about urban amenities to the centre they will say it is a state subject. When you go to state they will say it is a district matter. District guys will pass it over to municipal corporation, municipality etc. If not, it is a village matter.
Then if you still haven't given up, they will blame some contractor, "punish them severely" and then move on with life and the same contractor with a different GST certificate.
It is done so professionally that it works like clockwork.
Take Khedkar case also, the UPSC blamed DoPT. The DoPT blames the hospital. The hospital will blame the doctor. The doctor will blame the machine technician. Who will then blame the machine.
And the by the time this is all done, 60 years would have elapsed.
We may have created a system where people can take absolutely no responsibility whatsoever and yet thrive and progress.
Someone said, Hockey is our national game. It is not.
It is Passing the Parcel.
