@AmePriv99 Arguably Zverev is the only one of those guys who never actually reached his potential peak (I’d say Med and Casper surpassed theirs) so maybe he’s still trying and, hopefully, failing

@pompurinabauer Performance is way, way more exhausting than training. The medalists had to stay up way past midnight on the day they got their medals, there are commitments involved, least of all actually getting the medals. The emotional rollercoaster, given how close it was.

If you’re a fan of any other individual Olympic sport you’ll realise how untenable this position is. The push is for more medal opportunities, especially for premier sports

Team event should’ve left with the Russians (after all, it was created for their sake) & not because it negatively impacts performance in the IE (it probably doesn’t). Simply, figure skating is not a team sport. We shouldn’t be awarding Olympic medals like it is one.

@ghostlylutz Yes. Actually that entire Olympics is worth it if you’re into the rest of it at all

It has been so jarring returning to being a fan of this skating after a hiatus to discover how many 5-10 year-ish fans either wilfully or ignorantly don’t understand their sport
I had to relearn the scoring system, but it’s not hard to understand why Ilia gets the scores he does
Silv@pianofs
I cannot tell you how embarassed I was when a big jp acct put together an analysis of Shun vs Ilia's scores in hopes "overseas fans will understand how the scoring worked and calm down"
