Traditions can amplify company culture. Here are 8 unique practices I love at Simple Modern: Signed Kid’s Books for Expecting Parents Employees expecting receive a kid’s book signed by their co-workers. Along with words of excitement and encouragement. Giving Summit A day off-site for all employees to hear from non-profits we give to. Hearing the impact of our giving makes and allocating giving for next year. Connecting our work to the impact being made through giving is powerful. It's one thing to give money but more meaningful to engage with the amazing non-profits doing the work. Slack Holiday Names Most of the company changes their slack name and profile pic to be Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas themed. I was Portricia, Bryams and Little Porter Boy last year. Some incredible content has come from this. Factory Banquet We host an annual banquet for factory workers showing value and appreciation. A group from Simple Modern go to China. There is choreographed dancing, Chinese speeches and making fools of ourselves. Not telling which neon silhouette I am in the picture. Free Lunches Relationships are built around lunch tables. 5 days a week we’ve provided lunch to help co-workers know each other. Sadly, this has been paused with the tariffs. Employee Donations Every employee gets to direct a % of our giving budget to a non-profit of their choice. Our mission is to give generously and this allows everybody to directly participate. Public Affirmation All employees have affirmation read by their manager in front of the company. Written by the 4 co-workers who work the closest to them. Its also framed and given to the employee. Building people up in public is something we believe in. Employee Code 75% off anything on the website. We want employees and their families using our latest and greatest products.
