@bznotes Just came back from a Toronto visit and very similar feelings there (without healthcare :)). People generally don’t feel like the country is heading in the right way.

So many people in the US feel deep anxiety about the future: their jobs, healthcare, childcare, domestic political turmoil, lack of leadership, geopolitics and US standing in the world, and more. We need to find things that bring us together. Technology is one such thing. Patriotism another. Human rights, equality, democracy, climate and environment? What else?

Held an Iftar at our place last night. Lamb (kharoof) from Falafio in Millbrae, Shawarma from Lotus Falafel in San Bruno, and Kanafe from The Kunafa Guy were big hits. I recommend trying them.

@bznotes Secondaries became extra attractive given the crazy valuations in the past few years.

I have now heard about several high profile companies where founders took large secondaries in the last 1-2 years, and are frankly checked out. Meanwhile their companies are struggling. Chickens come home to roost for investors who played fast/loose with founder secondaries.

There are so many reasons! Add to it that scientists are almost 50 before they start a lab and are less inclined to take big risks.
