I don’t hate Sam George personally. I hate that he is still at that ministry because, from 2017 to 2024, he was part of us demanding that Ursula Owusu do better. That made many of us believe he was part of us and truly understood the struggles of the tech community. Now he has the opportunity to make an impact for the very people who supported him, but he is doing the opposite. That is why many people, including me, are holding him to his own words.

Hello @samgeorgegh, MTN Ghana has just increased its charges for transfers from MoMo to bank accounts. This sounds like a subtle reintroduction of the E-levy! Who approved this? Can MTN unilaterally increase charges without approval? We need answers now, or we hit the streets!

@_K_wasi @pazunre @samgeorgegh If he is an expert, he should share his expert opinion and stop the mockery. Do you see his expert opinion here? If an intellectual applies his intellect in MIT and not his country, what is the value? Let's stop this praise-singing. If his intellect doesn’t benefit GH, IDGAF!

Emmanuel Oppong from @Citi973/@Channel1TVGHA, is this really what the tech ecosystem is saying about the #NITADraftBill? NITA’s fees (GH¢20k+ for fintechs), mandatory certifications for devs/freelancers, and pre-enforcement of the unpassed NITA Bill aren’t “aggressive pushback”, they’re seen as an existential threat that will kill startups, drive talent away, and destroy jobs in Ghana’s fastest-growing sector. The tech community isn’t on a “bandwagon.” We’re unified that this overreach will reverse years of progress. Reporting the full picture not just the Minister’s emotional defence is all we are asking for! Journos @Channel1TVGHA and @Citi973 should do better.
CITI FM 97.3@Citi973

Government has mounted a strong defence of the National Information Technology Agency’s enforcement of registration fees, certification requirements and compliance obligations for ICT firms, fintechs and digital service providers, as backlash intensifies across Ghana’s technology ecosystem over what critics describe as an aggressive regulatory push. Someone who has a degree in Agricultural Engineering and not even a public Tech degree wants the power to dictate who should have Tech certification in Ghana and who shouldn’t. Sam George even had both his basic and secondary education in Nigeria. Government should focus on reducing data prices, improving infrastructure, creating opportunities, and enabling innovation instead of creating barriers and excessive control over the Tech sector. Remove Sam George from that position.

You open mint.gov.gh on mobile then it takes you to the page the hackers want you to see but you open it on PC then it looks fine Well your phone isn’t possessed. This is a classic "Conditional Mobile Redirect" hack Hackers know IT admins manage websites from desktop PCs. So to stay hidden, they write code that checks your device type (User-Agent) before loading the page Then the site plays dumb and shows you the real, clean government page This is where the trap triggers, hijacking your session and bouncing you to their spam landing page to milk ad revenue😂

The Ministry of Interior website has been hacked. If government agencies cannot secure their own systems, how can citizens trust that their data and digital services are safe? Instead of focusing on building better systems, their focus is on license fees and threatening punishment for non-compliance. Ghana needs reliable systems that actually work. We deserve better.
