History was made at @RepublicPoly yesterday... I had the privilege of speaking at GENFlick, Singapore’s first AI short video competition award ceremony. With ~100 registered competitors, the competition was a showcase of human creativity augmented by AI video tools. /1

We talk a lot about innovation. Innovation doesn't just happen in R&D labs and Boardrooms. Sometimes the smartest “innovation” happens on a driveway, with 2 heavy cylinders and a steady pair of hands. #Innovation #Safety

I was rushing to a lunch meeting, but had to stop to marvel at the quiet genius of this delivery uncle's blue-collar innovation... Problem: Delivery uncle had a truck load of cooking gas canisters to deliver to a busy restaurant. /1

Many young people I work with tell me that they would much rather work with their hands. Maybe the “future-proof” jobs aren’t in tweaking spreadsheets. Maybe they’re in skills you can’t outsource to AI? Is the tide on vocational work changing? #Trade #VocationalWork /end

This The Straits Times story feels like a tiny crack in the old narrative. Some will say that Daniel Yap is a business owner and has a degree. But I say that he chose to water, grow, and sell plants for a living. /2
