The world is full of naysayers. The journey to UroGPT has been full of people saying it could not be done. A year ago, the naysayers said: ❌ @DornierMedTech did not have enough software capability to build its own AI for urology. ❌ That healthcare providers won't use it. /1

LKY always said that Singapore and Malaysia are bound by geography and we can’t move away from each other So many Malaysians have studied here, worked here, built families here. The shared history and deep ties makes integration almost seamless. #Immigration #Border /end

That's about 11,500 per year. Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong shared that Singapore takes in about 22,000 new citizens each year. Do the math, and it suggests that about half of our new citizens are Malaysians. /2

I always guessed that it might be the case. That half of Singapore’s “new Singaporeans” are actually Malaysians... A Straits Times report(see link below) cited Malaysian data showing 57,315 Malaysians renounced their citizenship to become Singapore citizens from 2020–2025. /1

@republicpoly We continue to be laser focused on our students. Augmenting their creativity. Increasing their employability. And ultimately, boosting the national competitiveness of Singapore. That's what we wake up every morning for. #History #Impact #Jobs /end

@republicpoly GenFlick was organized by RP but with deep industry partnerships with Mediacorp Pte Ltd, Alibaba Cloud, and Adobe. In the same day, we hosted Minister David Neo to launch RP’s AI Strategy. /2

History was made at @RepublicPoly yesterday... I had the privilege of speaking at GENFlick, Singapore’s first AI short video competition award ceremony. With ~100 registered competitors, the competition was a showcase of human creativity augmented by AI video tools. /1

We talk a lot about innovation. Innovation doesn't just happen in R&D labs and Boardrooms. Sometimes the smartest “innovation” happens on a driveway, with 2 heavy cylinders and a steady pair of hands. #Innovation #Safety

What struck me wasn’t the strength. It was the kind of practical ingenuity you only learn when your job depends on doing hard things safely, repeatedly, day after day. /3

I was rushing to a lunch meeting, but had to stop to marvel at the quiet genius of this delivery uncle's blue-collar innovation... Problem: Delivery uncle had a truck load of cooking gas canisters to deliver to a busy restaurant. /1

Many young people I work with tell me that they would much rather work with their hands. Maybe the “future-proof” jobs aren’t in tweaking spreadsheets. Maybe they’re in skills you can’t outsource to AI? Is the tide on vocational work changing? #Trade #VocationalWork /end

This The Straits Times story feels like a tiny crack in the old narrative. Some will say that Daniel Yap is a business owner and has a degree. But I say that he chose to water, grow, and sell plants for a living. /2

Is the tide on vocational work changing...? For the longest time, success has been equated to a degree. A good job being one in an air-conditioned office. Plumbing. Farming. Carpentry. That was for those who didn't "make it". /1

Many of us spend our careers trying to “fit in”. When sometimes, all we need is someone to choose us. And stand up for us? #Belong #StandUp /end

That was it. No apology. No shame. No one was allowed to turn her daughter into a “question”. I think about that moment often. A mother's love for her daughter. A comment that says: She's mine. She belongs. Backoff. /4

Ever felt like you don't belong...? I've never shared about my adopted God-sister. She was adopted from an orphanage in Sri Lanka by Caucasian German parents. Scrawny. Abandoned. Until someone chose her. /1

@UW To thank someone before the year ended. It made my day. A fantastic start to 2026. And a quiet nudge that another year of Mentoring, Investing, and Teaching (MIT) matters. #Gratitude #NewYear #MITlife /end

@UW She shared updates: taking initiative, running experiments, earning a small funding award, showing up to learn and build even when results felt discouraging. But what got me wasn’t the achievements. It was the fact that she took the time to stop. /2

Gratitude Friday. I’m starting 2026 with a lump in my throat... Late on New Year’s Eve, I received an email from a bioengineering student at @uw. It wasn’t long. It wasn’t flashy. Just a simple note saying: “Your mentorship mattered.” /1
