It forces a kind of discipline that I think makes you build better. When compliance is non-negotiable, you build it properly from day one. When reliability is expected, you can't fake it. When the infrastructure has constraints, you learn it deeply instead of working around it. The romanticized version skips all of that. Just "India to the world, let's go."

Everyone loves the narrative of building in India for the world. The reality is a little less cinematic. It means your compliance requirements are set by regulators who were writing rules before the internet existed. It means your banking partners have legacy systems you have to work around, not through.

Just paid $52 in fees to receive $2,500 from a US client through @Wise 😭That’s over $600/year gone just to move my own money. Amazing exchange rates though. Freelancers: is this considered normal?

If you work as a freelancer, influencer, or content creator and receive international payments, here are the best options ranked by priority. Wise > Payoneer > PayPal (Also via Bank transfer) Wise Wise charges negligible fees when receiving international payments and transfers arrive much faster compared to the alternatives. Best overall option. Payoneer Payoneer charges a small fee and transfer speeds are fast, though slightly slower than Wise. A solid second option. PayPal PayPal charges around $8-$9 per $100 received, making it the most expensive option. Transfer speeds are moderate. Use only if the other party insists on it. Bank Transfer (Special Mention) Bank transfer is a separate option and cannot be directly compared to the above. It is not completely free as banks charge their own fees (almost negligible). You will only receive your money after filling out a remittance form, either by visiting your branch in person or online.

Had a great conversation with Ajay from @vccircle recently. Talked about where Xflow is headed. New licenses across the US, UK, Ireland, Singapore and Hong Kong, new products, and why we're doubling down on AI instead of headcount. One thing I kept coming back to: the best infrastructure businesses don't just grow. They get more efficient as they scale. That's the game we're playing.

These brilliant folks tried to have a normal team dinner. Keyword: tried. Somewhere between the starters and the main course, work comes in. Laptop opened. Problem solved. Drinks resumed. Honestly the most @Xflowpay thing that's ever happened. Love this team ❤️

One of the earliest things I noticed building @Xflowpay: most payment infrastructure is designed for merchants, not platforms. That gap creates real problems at scale. Unpredictable settlements, operational overhead, no room to grow. xPay felt that. Then they found us. 50% faster settlements. 10% cost reduction. Live in two weeks.

@abhatnagar @xflowpay Pretty cool, happy to chat sometime on how you guys are doing it e2e. Cost part makes sense, this definitely should be a sub 12 hr settlement? Bunch of fintech founders ik use xflow:)

Stablecoin acceptance for Indian businesses is now live on @Xflowpay. Here's the architecture that makes it actually compliant.

We've figured out the FIRA process because we off-ramp the funds outside India. The source of funds is of course the origin. I agree on the cost bit, but this is not an expense reduction play. We're looking at stablecoins purely from a payment rails / optionality perspective. Also, nice to meet a fellow payments enthusiast!

Awesome! How do manage FIRA though. Is the source of funds mentioned as origin or the offshore country like sgp? Also, won't this cost the same as SWIFT because at the end money has to enter back in banking system and charges there would add up due to onramp & offramp. Spent some time on this problem before @pravapayments so it's a topic of interest:)

@xflowpay Who this is for right now: Platforms that already offer stablecoin wallets to their users. They can now close the loop, compliant stablecoin-to-INR settlement without building any compliance infrastructure themselves.

@xflowpay The wrong model: "Here's a wallet address. Receive USDT." The right model: Global buyer pays in stablecoins. Off-ramp happens outside India. Indian business receives fiat INR through regulated rails, with full documentation. We built the second one.

Amazon had it. Stripe had it. We carry it at @Xflowpay. Writing forces clarity in a way that meetings don't. When you put a decision in a doc, you quickly find out whether you actually understand the problem or just think you do. It's one of the habits I'm most glad we kept.
