इज़राइल और ईरान जैसे संवेदनशील अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्दे पर देश के मीडिया का यह कहना कि “कांग्रेस छाती पीट रही है” या “विपक्ष परेशान है” यह सिर्फ एक बयान नहीं, बल्कि लोकतांत्रिक संवाद के गिरते स्तर का प्रमाण है। जब बात इज़राइल और ईरान के बीच बढ़ते तनाव की हो, जब पूरी दुनिया शांति, कूटनीति और रणनीतिक संतुलन की बात कर रही हो, तब भारत के विपक्ष की जायज़ चिंता को उपहास में बदल देना बेहद दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है। विपक्ष सवाल पूछेगा, यही उसका संवैधानिक धर्म है। अगर भारत की विदेश नीति, हमारे राष्ट्रीय हित, खाड़ी देशों में काम कर रहे लाखों भारतीयों की सुरक्षा, और ऊर्जा आपूर्ति जैसे गंभीर विषयों पर सरकार से स्पष्ट रुख माँगा जाता है, तो उसे “परेशानी” या “छाती पीटना” बताना दरअसल जवाबदेही से भागना है। असहमति लोकतंत्र की ताकत होती है, कमजोरी नहीं। आज जरूरत है परिपक्व बहस की, तथ्यों पर आधारित चर्चा की, और राष्ट्रीय हित को सर्वोपरि रखने की। लेकिन जब मीडिया का एक वर्ग विश्लेषण छोड़कर व्यंग्य और ट्रोलिंग की भाषा अपनाता है, तो यह लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तंभ की गरिमा पर प्रश्नचिन्ह खड़ा करता है। देश यह देख रहा है कि किस तरह गंभीर कूटनीतिक संकट को भी राजनीतिक तंज़ और निम्न स्तर की शब्दावली में बदल दिया जा रहा है। हम स्पष्ट कहना चाहते हैं, सवाल उठाना देशविरोध नहीं है, बल्कि देशहित में जिम्मेदारी निभाना है। भारत जैसे बड़े लोकतंत्र में विचारों की असहमति को सम्मान मिलना चाहिए, न कि उसे मज़ाक बनाकर दबाने की कोशिश। राष्ट्रीय मुद्दों पर संवाद गरिमा से होना चाहिए। मीडिया द्वारा कांग्रेस पार्टी और देश के विपक्ष के लिए इस्तेमाल किए गए “छाती पीटना” जैसे शब्दों के प्रयोग की मैं घोर निंदा करता हूँ। यह भाषा न केवल निम्न स्तर की है, बल्कि लोकतांत्रिक मर्यादाओं के भी विरुद्ध है।

The targetted assassination of the leadership of a sovereign nation by the so called leaders of the democratic world and the killing of multitudes of innocent people is despicable and deserves strong condemnation, no matter what the proclaimed reason for it is. It is tragic that multiple nations have now been dragged into conflict. The world needs peace not more unnecessary wars. Those in charge of it would do well to remember Mahatma Gandhi’s words: An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. I do hope that having genuflected before the Prime Minister of Israel and President Trump, our Prime Minister makes every effort to bring all Indian citizens in the affected countries back home to safety.
