In 1901, a woman solved the biggest problem in electrical engineering. But the Royal Society wouldn't let her present her own paper. A man read her words while she sat in silence. Then they rejected her as a Fellow because she was married. Then she invented a device that saved soldiers choking on poison gas in WWI. The War Office laughed at her. Then they ordered 104,000 of them. Her name was Hertha Ayrton. She held 26 patents. She was the first woman in the IEE. And most people have never heard her name.... (I share stories of women daily)

@abidaker All my illustrative work gets full credit. I never make stuff any more where I am simply a 'wrist'. Those days are way behind me. I get payed specifically for work that isnt designed digitally.

This is a nuanced, tricky subject. BUT The student should worry more about *building the body, the soul will enter it* than worry about "expressing themselves". What you *express* is directly influenced by what *impresses* you, shaped through mastery over your materials.
