The Bureau of Labor Satistics shows an average gsi salary of about $39,500. What @geo3550 are asking for is reasonable. Hilariously, @UMich did not provide their average. Probably because it's so far below the others.

@RyanCMcCarty1 carefully fact-checked this claim by contacting financial aid offices at multiple universities, as well as Federal Student Aid consultants—all agreed that undergrads would not lose their aid due to withheld grades unless @UMich itself creates this repercussion.

The living wage in AA is 18.67 hr * 2080 weeks (working 40 hrs/wk) = $38.8K/yr
Current GSI salary = $35/hr * 20 hrs/week * 35 weeks (8 months) = $24.5K/yr
This is blatant misinformation and whoever is making these figures should be ashamed.

The @UMich Regents called our $14k raise ask "unrealistic". Let's look at at the raises their top administrators got last year.
Special s/o to CFO @GeoffChatas getting a $160k raise just last year – more than 10x what we want.
We are asking for less than Admin give themselves.

@umichLSA is flat out lying here. These are internal U-M deadlines and policies. In the case of federal loans, a soft deadline is June 30th and a "hard" deadline of early-September exists. Anne Curzan is lying to manipulate faculty into scabbing through "student harm".
