@crathmann @mdemeulder @IoCN_1 I think it would depend on who you’d be making the requests to. In the UK, we can make a ‘Freedom of Information’ request, and I believe it’s applicable in other countries, but not all. It would also have to be a very detailed and specific request.

I'd also keen to know how many requests were accepted and how many were rejected. As for Germany (and probably for many countries), we do not have statistics on how difficult it is to arrange interpreting services (in most cases, this might be either due to a lack of interpreters' availability or due to interpreters' priorities). In my view, it is important to discuss on how to professionalize the handling/processing of interpreting requests.

Figures of X number of hearing interpreters or X number of deaf interpreters in a country are not really meaningful until you know ratio of deaf people who use SL interpreting services (generally not the same as the number of signing deaf people in one country) #wasli2023

1/5 There are unfair and avoidable differences between the mental health services available to deaf and hearing people. Deaf people do not receive equitable healthcare.’ This is one of the findings mentioned in our ‘Shaping the future of deaf mental health’ report.

Today @abigailgormanSH, @BP_Bryony and Dr Sophie Roberts, Clinical Lead for Deaf Mental Health, presented our report to @NHSEngland, highlighting stark inequalities and gaps in #DeafMentalHealth provisions and what needs to happen. Report👉bit.ly/futuredeafMH

I’m proud to sign the #StandWithTrans pledge At @SignHealth we know that health equality for deaf people must actively include deaf trans people. We’re proud to have partnered with @StraightCharity on providing the BSL translation of the pledge too vimeo.com/840881342?shar…

Mae Muller for the UK, just smashed that performance as did her sign language interpreter with her killer dance moves. Absolutely brilliant. #Eurovision #Eurovision2023 #BSL

This can’t happen. Deaf children need to be in situations where their educational, emotional and mental needs are met. Deaf children should be in situations that encourages them to thrive, instead of playing catch up.

5) To @bea_p_webster who put their heart into the performance, it was lovely to know that it was done by someone who cared about the piece.

4) I’d like to give thanks to @DeafinitelyT and @painesplough for believing in me and for giving me the opportunity to write and highlight issues that we need to talk about, no matter how uncomfortable it may make us. To the crew, who worked hard to put everything together.

1) Last year, @DeafinitelyT asked me to write a monologue for their series, Talking Hands. They asked me to write about something relating to hope, freedom, or a release of some kind. It took me a while to think about what kind of story should be told.
