@EmmaKerr_ @thismorning I mean it really depends. Coeliac varies from person to person, I personally react severely and would not feel comfortable eating from a buffet with gluten containing foods as I have been ill from this in the past. X

@thismorning @thismorning The gluten free food isle in shops is small. I would be telling the mother in law to not take the only supply of gluten free food and serve for an entire buffet when only 1 person needs this dietary requirement! Shocking!

@thismorning I can’t believe she just said a lady that her 15 year old should grow up because they are a fussy eater & won’t like any of gluten free buffet served by the mother in law on Christmas! A gluten free only buffet is not the way to go just because 1 person is ceoliac!

@santanderukhelp I just opened a regular saver and transferred the £200 into the account. Now I've just read that I need to be moving the money by standing order else it'll be turned into an everyday saver! What do I do to keep the regular saver benefits?

@PhDVoice @PostdocVoice In the uk funding is fixed for 3.5 years. Most people will complete the PhD for that time. And if not in the 3.5 then definitely in 4 years. Anything longer is very rare.

The pressure to publish can lead to unethical research practices and a lack of focus on quality over quantity. Let's prioritize integrity in academic research and not just the number of publications.

@LharaMullins @PhDVoice @AcademicChatter There can definitely be problems with prezi if you’re asked to present not from your own computer- whereas PowerPoint is a universally accepted format. As I’m sure others have said I’d also be worried people spend more time looking at the presentation than listening

(1/4) Our report ‘The Gluten Free Diet: How much does it cost and why does it matter?’ reveals the cost of a minimum standard basket of gluten free food costs up to 20% more when compared to a standard basket.

Feeling so much solidarity from everyone here ❤️ I’ve sent an email to the disability advice services to get started on an application- let’s hope for some good accommodations 🙏

Thank you for all the comments, I think the thing I’m worried about is whether I would qualify as I mentioned above the condition is “well managed” and is not something people generally consider as a condition that would require accommodations…

Anyone got any experience with University disability services- trying to figure out what they could help with as a PhD student. I have an autoimmune disease that is generally managed but can have flare ups which make me very tired. #phdchat #phdvoice #AcademicChatter

Ramadhan is in a few days! Reminder that not every Muslim can fast, or is advised to do so medically. Either due to disability, chronic illness, medication schedules, there are many reasons. And none of them are your business, so don't ask!
