It was a pleasure to meet with Dr. Matthias Roßbach, Federal Representative of the State of North Rhine Westfalia in Berlin. Discussion on the current situation in Lebanon, the economic and business opportunities and the ways NRW, home of a sizeable Lebanese community, can help.

At the Bundestag for the relaunching of the Parliamentary Circle of Friends of Lebanon at the initiative of MP Mr. Paul Ziemiak. A rich exchange on the current situation. Looking forward to further develop our friendship.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Ing. Christian Bruch, President and CEO of Siemens Energy . We explored ways of cooperation between Lebanon and Siemens Energy in the power sector. A positive first meeting that will hopefully lead to fruitful cooperation.

I received a call from the German Foreign Minister @AussenMinDE Johann Wadephul, who expressed his country’s firm support for the efforts of the Lebanese government to assert its sovereignty and achieve stability. He also emphasized that Germany is working toward reaching a ceasefire and informed me of the allocation of 45 million euros in humanitarian assistance for the Lebanese people. For my part, I thanked him for Germany’s humanitarian and political support and explained that Lebanon is seeking, through direct negotiations with Israel, to reach a ceasefire. I stressed that this track has in practice reinforced the separation between the Lebanese file and the Iranian track. I also affirmed that the Lebanese state alone holds the authority to negotiate on behalf of Lebanon, in a clear message that reestablishes the principle of national sovereignty at the heart of Lebanese diplomacy.

تلقيت اتصالاً هاتفياً من وزير خارجية المانيا يوهان فاديفول، الذي أعرب عن دعم بلاده الراسخ للجهود التي تبذلها الحكومة اللبنانية في سبيل بسط سيادتها وتحقيق الاستقرار، مؤكداً على ان ألمانيا تعمل للتوصل إلى وقف لإطلاق النار. كما أبلغني عن تخصيص مساعدات إنسانية للشعب اللبناني بقيمة 45 مليون يورو. شكرته من جهتي على دعم بلاده الإنساني والسياسي، وأوضحت له أن لبنان يسعى عبر مفاوضات مباشرة مع إسرائيل إلى الوصول إلى وقف لإطلاق النار، وشددت على أن إرساء هذا المسار قد كرّس فعلياً الفصل بين الملف اللبناني والمسار الإيراني. كما أكدت أن الدولة اللبنانية تحتكر وحدها قرار التفاوض باسم لبنان، في رسالة واضحة تُعيد تثبيت مبدأ السيادة الوطنية في قلب الدبلوماسية اللبنانية.

دان الرئيس الألماني فرانك-فالتر شتاينماير خلال اتصال أجراه مساء اليوم مع رئيس الجمهورية العماد جوزاف عون، الاعتداءات الاسرائيلية المستمرة ضد لبنان، وقدم تعازيه والشعب الألماني بالضحايا الذين سقطوا فيها. وأعرب الرئيس الألماني عن تضامن بلاده مع لبنان وشعبه في هذه الظروف الصعبة واستعدادها للمساهمة في وقف التصعيد والتخفيف من معاناة الشعب اللبناني الصديق. وشكر الرئيس عون نظيره الألماني على مواقفه الداعمة للبنان، وتداول معه في التطورات الاخيرة في لبنان والمنطقة والسبل الايلة إلى اعادة الاستقرار إلى دولها.

Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East, profaned by the blasphemy of war and the brutality of business, with no regard for people’s lives, which are considered at most collateral damage of self-interest. But no gain can be worth the life of the weakest, children, or families. No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.

Spring teaches us never to give up on hope.

I had a cordial and productive meeting with the Council of #Arab Ambassadors @GermanyDiplo in Berlin today, to discuss possible ways out of the current situation in the Middle East and to work for peace and security in the region.

In depth exchange with Member of the Bundestag Paul Ziemiak on the situation in Lebanon and how Germany can offer support at the political and humanitarian levels. Germany was swift in providing much needed humanitarian aid.

I discussed the dire humanitarian situation in Lebanon with the Minister of Economic cooperation and Development HE Minister Reem Alabali Radovan . She stressed the importance of helping the civilian population. I thanked HE for her statement on 🇱🇧 & for Germany’s ongoing support
