You cannot pay rent or groceries in "reps".
Yes, getting those hours reporting, writing or in the booth are important as you work your way up, you need to be compensated for your time in doing that.

Respectfully, telling ANYONE coming out of school and into the sports media game to be willing to work for free is horrible advice. Not everyone can do that, people have bills to pay, need to put food in their stomach etc.

Keep saying yes. Find a way to take on any and every opportunity regardless of the sport. Be the same person off the air as you are on it. Also, be willing to work for free, it happens but it'll pay off. And take feedback - when people give it, it means they care. Here to help!
