I do think it's bleak to see people floundering like this in a state of quasi-religious psychosis about a bunch of computer chips, so here is some recommended reading showing that AI has to trained on human work (which it cannot create), to try to imitate the superintelligence of the human mind (which it cannot do). Most importantly, AI cannot access any information outside a computer, which is why it cannot generate knowledge. So, for instance, if an AI enthusiast's mother knew she conceived him from a secret affair with the milkman, AI could never tell him. Because that is knowledge shared between humans and not input into a model for scraping the internet. Similarly, AI cannot generate journalism and it cannot generate science, because it has no access to IRL natural phenomena or IRL human conversation. Additionally, once AI scrapes all the human language, math, art and research that is already online, it will not be able to sustain itself because its models will collapse.
