When I was growing up in Miami in 2008 a kid told me Obama couldn't win because "there's never been a president who wasn't white or Hispanic." I told him there's never been a Hispanic president and he said "Yeah but there's definitely never been one who wasn't white or Hispanic"

@MattZeitlin (im 24, so i can’t speak for people a lot younger than me)

@MattZeitlin euphoria and spiderman were the first major steps on this path, but i believe most people in my age/demo group (basically the target audience for euphoria) knew her from disney. euphoria felt like seeing her grow up in real time while also ourselves growing up
English

@MattZeitlin i didn’t like euphoria and don’t think she’s a particularly standout actress (in challengers etc) but i still like watching everything she’s in and being like oh hey there’s the girl from shake it up, except she’s a cool, beautiful, and seemingly normal adult now
English

@MattZeitlin i think to the youth she’s primarily a rare disney kid who “made it out” so the projects that she “made it” to are less important than her overall persona and the status of having successfully moved in that direction

@90SLUPIN_ fair enough ig by "act like a human being" i meant "do their job as an actor," i.e. "play the role of a human being who is comfortable onstage"

i get the sentiment here but tbhi think it's a little easier to pull off when said character is an american actress cast in a norwegian film that was changed to english specifically for her, but keeping all the other actors norwegian idk idk
Elle Fanning Central 👽@ellecentral
“Elle Fanning is playing a bad actress, or rather a miscast actress, and I'm not sure people have appreciated just how difficult that is to pull off when you're as talented as she is.” – Anonymous #Oscar voter.
