Smart accounts are more expensive than EOAs - but by how much? 🤷 Introducing the MinimalAccount - the most gas-optimised ERC-4337 account, written in @huff_language - built to find out the answer to exactly that question github.com/kopy-kat/Minim…

New Anglofuturism episode: Oxford's startup monastery We visited HomeDAO: a newly-founded, über-competitive and highly successful start-up accelerator. If there is to be a British PayPal mafia then it is quite likely that it will emerge from this hacker house in Oxford. Part 1 is out today. Calum and I talked to Josh Lavorini, a HomeDAO co-founder, about talent identification, taste, Oxford, the Coase theorem, British unicorns, the shortcomings of Old Street, and plenty more. Listen via anglofuturism dot c o or your usual podcast app.

bonus points: give your openclaw an api key + a skill for using the faucet and you can get testing funds sent even more easily. let me know if you'd like a rhinestone api key to try out the faucet

usage is simple: get the wallet address via api and send funds on any chain. then, anyone with an api key can request funds on any chain they need them on. the backend has an audit log so you can track who spends funds and for what. it works on mainnets and testnets

many teams I know struggle with testing across chains. just moving funds around and making sure different keys have enough funds has drained too much of our time. i built a simple faucet that lets our team access funds via api on any chain they need them github.com/rhinestonewtf/…

super bullish on @ZyfAI_ and it's been a pleasure working with them!

@yoavw in that case I would argue that "intent" bridges are "transaction" bridges. on across, relay, eco etc the relayer has no discretion over your execution or even how you get there in any way that impacts the user. these systems give the solver no more discretion than eil does

Intents are not "bad", just serve a different purpose and make different trade offs. EIL is not intents. Transaction are prescriptive. Exact calldata to execute, no discretion about how. Intents are declarative. What the user wants to achieve, leaving solvers discretion over how to get there. EIL = multichain transactions, not intents. No solver ever transacts on your behalf. You sign exact calldata and execute it yourself. Vouchers help users pay gas and abstract liquidity but they also leave no discretion to liquidity providers. Either you provide the voucher or you don't. The fundamental difference is that intents currently use solvers, a 3rd party that transacts on your behalf, while EIL doesn't. Moving the logic from servers to local code reduces trust assumptions. Intents are a great abstraction layer, but usually introduce trust dependencies. By definition, if you give someone discretion, you trust them to some extent.

tbh I'm disappointed by the "intents bad" meta that was a core theme at trustless conf EIL is another intent-based settlement layer, like across, eco, relayer, catalyst etc. diff proving mechanisms are important but pretending this is fundamentally different to intents is wrong

Ethereum introduces Ethereum Interop Layer making Ethereum feel like one chain. → one click to swap across L2s → use funds from anywhere → no bridges, no network switching → same security & censorship resistance

Rhinestone
Rhinestone@rhinestonewtf·
EOAs weren't built for a world that runs on intents. The design is archaic (sorry MM) and the base feature set is too narrow. As blockchains intent-sify, it has only become more obvious: Smart accounts are a way better vehicle for intents. And there's one big reason why 🧵
