KNCCI is pleased to report that the implementation of new fees for phytosanitary services by KEPHIS has been suspended. Exactly two weeks ago, we met with the leadership of KEPHIS to raise concerns about the impact of the new fees that were set to be implemented effective July 15. We argued that the new fees would increase the cost of exports, making Kenyan produce uncompetitive in the global market and eventually resulting in a fall in export volumes. We appreciate the efforts of the Permanent Secretaries of the State Department of Investment and the State Department of Agriculture for their engagement and support on this matter.
