Excited to share that @DeepFission has selected @NEXA_academy to deliver quality assurance, operations, and engineering training in support of its underground SMR development. Deep Fission is a 2025 DOE Pilot Reactor Program selectee developing a first-of-its-kind pressurized water reactor placed one mile underground. Prioritizing workforce readiness at this stage of reactor development reflects the kind of thinking that moves the industry forward. In line with the Master Services Agreement announced earlier this year between Deep Fission and Accelerant Solutions, training is set to begin shortly. A productive campus visit brought together Doug Henderson and Michael Fagan from Accelerant Solutions with Jason Woodworth and Stephen Dolansky from @westinghouse Electric Company to meet Randy Steele, Nuclear Power Engineering Technology Lead. Chattanooga State is leading the academic community in implementing an Associate Degree program in Engineering Technology designed specifically for the nuclear industry – hands-on training, industry-aligned curriculum, and faculty who understand what the industry demands. This is exactly the kind of program the nuclear workforce needs, and it’s why partnerships between industry and education matter now more than ever. Working alongside institutions like Chattanooga State closes the gap between training and readiness.
