I want to take a moment to transparently explain the technicalities behind this. According to the Election Commission guidelines, the option for a recount often depends on the number of rejected or invalid votes. In our 2023 election, the total number of invalid votes was exactly 71. Even if a recount had been initiated and miraculously, 100% of those 71 invalid votes were validated and transferred to my account, we would still be short of 35 votes to secure a win. Because the total number of invalid votes (71) was lesser than the margin of defeat (105), there was no legal provision or option available to us to demand a recount. It is a harsh reality of electoral mathematics, but we must respect the rules. Losing by such a microscopic margin is heartbreaking, but it also tells a much bigger story. It shows the phenomenal grassroots support we have in Gandhinagar. Coming this close is a testament to the hard work of every single party worker and the trust of thousands of voters. Our fight for the development of Gandhinagar does not stop here. We are stronger, more united, and we will continue our work on the ground with even more dedication.
