This area was never meant to support 18+ million people. Fire resistant native plants replaced by flammable invasive palms, the prescribed burns that Chumash used to stop wildfires were banned. LA is burning because of the hubris of colonialism, & the most marginalized suffer.
The Last Farm@TheLastFarm

Watching video after video of invasive plants exploding like fireworks in what was once a resilient, fire-adapted landscape and thinking about all the apologists who are like “what does ‘invasive’ even really mean, man? That’s just, like, a construct”

Tlazohtli 🪶 The Angry Black Native
Grieving with my Native relatives as we are continually forced to watch our homelands ravaged by the consequences of settler colonial greed knowing Indigenous ppl will always bear the brunt of it

@aceekmr It was inappropriate to stop a democratic process. That girl is a spoiled brat who has had too much privileges and doesn’t want us to have a voice or be equal under the law . She is the tail that is trying to wag the dog

Not that girly being like "that's not parliament's tikanga" welp it is the tikanga of the stolen land Parliament stands on, sooo 💁🏻‍♀️ it's actually very much tikanga to show heavy opposition/disagreement in the form of a haka wtf are you even talking about lmao

Polynesians had settled an area the size of Russia before the British could even cross the English Channel. But the anonymous X accounts of this world insist Polynesian civilisation was primitive.

Let the world see the haka isn't just for rugby games, graduations, weddings and funerals. Let them get a glimpse of its original intention and if it makes anyone uncomfortable to see it outside of those other contexts then stop using it. stop telling us that when you saw it

Maybe as you reconnect w your iwi/hapū/marae/papakāinga etc you can ask yourself - what can I do for them? Before wondering what they can do for you on your reclaimation journey. Because I guarantee there's a tea towel waiting for you at the end of it as well as people willing

@whaeavee I remember a principal said this to me when I was 17 and lost my māmā 5 years prior. I'm 34 now and I still can't believe an adult said that to me when I was still actively grieving her. I'm still so sorry for your loss Whāea Vee 💙 ngā manaakitanga ki runga i a koe

ESPECIALLY the same week as the massive hīkoi in Pōneke 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's just a comms 101 thing: use common sense lmao look at what's going on in the world rn and think, will this cause more or less damage to the brand?

I work in comms and whoever's call it was to cut the beginning of TJ's part in the ABs haka for socials surely thought about the risk of doing that? Whether that comms/socials manager supports Toitū te Tiriti or not, it's a major reputational risk to do that
