@tompaana I guess the point is that nowadays (all?) languages evolve (C# included) instead of a fast evolutionary phase followed by prolonged fossilisation when it gets widespread. The annoying part is when people choose tech A today because they didn't like B in the 90s.

@achipa Well, you're absolutely right there: MSFT Java. The critique was also valid in my opinion. Yet the language has been quite alright from the get-go. I want better access to actual pointers though.

Most of the criticism of C++, JS (even Windows) seems not wrong, but simply outdated. We're pitting our 2018 desires against our 1990s hurts.

@tompaana I think C# was largely seen as the MSFT answer to early Java, the critique mostly being on the level of .NET tied to x86 and Windows (which is also #ObsoleteCriticism today as C# has OSS compilers and is supported even on Android/iOS).

@achipa Was C#, the language itself, criticised a lot? I know the pain associated with some patterns, libraries and related frameworks (XAML vs QML). Better integration w/ C++ is on my wishlist.
