We are banning social media access for under 16s. These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life. I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.

I just spent 3 weeks in Japan and I miss it already. - the quiet. people talk quietly, no phones on speaker. - people drive politely - no trash on the street - restaurant staff are attentive, food is always quick etc I want to go back

@Tomoejp1236 Well, Shueisha doesn't cover all manga. It covers only Shueisha series, right? And often times, that of Shonen Jump. I work with people who have an interest to work with small Japanese companies to help license and translate their manga. So I hope someone will reach out.

海賊版問題で「日本の出版社、アニメ会社がローカライズをしないのが悪い」ということになってるみたい。 そういう側面は確かにある。 ただ、 「ほんの僅かの金額だけで、何十倍の売り上げがあるのになぜやらない？」 からきて 「こんなに安価で簡単な翻訳もしないってことは、意図的にガイジンに見せない様にしているに違いない」 まで話が発展してる。 はっきり言うけど「日本語から他の言語へのローカライズ」はムチャクチャに高コストだってこと。 聞いてると 「そんなの現地のコーディネーター雇って適当に金払って丸投げして、出来上がりを待っとけばいいのに日本の出版社は何故それをしない？」 って言ってるけど完全な誤解。 別に優位性の保持じゃなくて日本語は世界６位の仕様人数を誇りながら日本でしか通じないマイナー言語だ。 インド・ヨーロッパ語系とは語順も全く違うし非常に独特。 適当に翻訳を結果悲劇が多く生まれた。 日本人にとっては「義務教育」に近い「機動戦士ガンダム」は当時非常にいい加減な翻訳をされて沈没した。 単なるガイドビームを「トラクター（牽引）ビーム」と訳しやがった。スタートレックやスターウォーズじゃないんだよ。 とはいえ、現代の日本人からみても見る都度新しい発見のあるガンダムを非日本人が完全に訳すのは相当に難しいとは思う。 実際当時心あるファンが「大変な訳し方されてるぞ！何とかした方がいい！」とサンライズに血相を変えてアドバイスをしても英語が分からないサンライズの担当は何が問題なのか全く分からなかったらしい。 「クレヨンしんちゃん」は英語版で会話がアメリカンになり幼稚園児が「ボクにはストックオプションが必要だ」とか喋ってる。 まあ元が大人向けのシニカル４コマなんでこれはいいだろう。 問題は、ただの日常系ほのぼのアニメで突如キャラクターが 「家父長制がむかつく」 などと言ったりする。 そうwokeな翻訳家がおのれの思想をぶちこんでローカライズの名のもとに日本アニメをおもちゃにしてるんだ。 こんなのをサラリーマン社員がいちいちチェックできると思う？ それこそ１年掛けて作った漫画の翻訳出版に翻訳作業だけで２年掛かるみたいなことが普通に起こりかねない。 それで売れればいいけど全く売れなかったりする。 ローカライズは海外の「海賊版ユーザー」が考える10倍難しく、100倍コストがかかるんだ。 決して怠惰なわけでもないし、ましてや海外を軽視したり、果ては嫌がらせをしているわけでは全くない。 そこは認識しておいてくれ。
