@butchbaccala How did Nolan Ryan pull it off? If the answer is: I wish I knew, then why do we continue to look for linear scientific answers when non-linear instances continue to appear? What makes the ultimate throwing human in your matter then? Arm care? Pitch count? Slot? Lower half? What?

@acreel34 I scouted Scherzer at Missouri, I truly thought he would be an elite closer. He was violent, but tougher than the average bear. I’ve watched all the formulas over the years and we don’t build guys to hunt complete games anymore because of the pitch count culture. I wish I knew

Just got a note, I seriously don’t know what coaches are thinking but 7 inning Freshmen game. HS freshmen Complete game win 7-0 score. 103 pitches in a non league means nothing game. But a Freshmen in HS going 103 pitches. This is going past not funny. 85 Tops at that age.

@butchbaccala I don’t disagree at all Butch, but if you have a set number, than I believe you are bringing guys back to the cult of average. How do you build Scherzers? How do you build guys that don’t have their stuff, and start throwing hissy fits when things aren’t going right? Asking

@acreel34 Because that’s number I’ve always used Alex, usually because of body strength and body type. Stressful innings over 25 pitches in an inning. Push and coach the importance of strikes and pitch location. You broke because you were max effort and violent and were over pitched. Me 2

C/2B is my passion but I’m a baseball player n a teammate 1st n will do what it takes to help my team. Need an arm for a non-district game, 3rd x ever on the bump in a HS game, GB machine 😂Thanks @acreel34 for teaching me proper mechanics at a young age! ❤️ this game!

@butchbaccala And 10 is an exaggeration but I would always come back for a relief appearance in the same week. Never was able to maintain health after that. Head yank became my thing

@butchbaccala I think it was I threw 10 innings a week in HS as Jr., went straight to summer ball, and the pain started to kick in. I did not have the proper recovery systems in place. I had to perform for scholarship, and Velo was king, and I compensated my delivery for the juice

It’s ridiculious when you have a talent as good as Austin NYE pitching and some genius is calling CB and Changeup almost every pitch when his FB is 90-95. I think I’d let Austin call his own game because 15 breaking pitches in first inning not very productive for 1st rd talent.
