@nahiyaaaaar Depends. Outside nepal, the words gorkha is associated with its military legacy. The large scale interaction Indians had with Nepalese were through gorkha paltan. So it became easier for ppl of darjeeling or nepal to explain their identity to other Indians Hence the popularity.

@nahiyaaaaar Also Nepalese should view us as any other Indian not Nepali indians. They expect us to have loyalty towards nepal while living in india. That's the sole reason why they feel betrayed when indian gorkhas don't take their side.

@nahiyaaaaar We've started referring to ourselves as "indian gorkhas" now and it was because every time someone would call themselves Indian Nepali, they would attack us saying there's nothing like indian nepali. Nepali means someone from Nepal. Nepali is not an ethnicity blah blah.

@wut_dufuk100 Not a single incident of killing or protest after sikkim's merger with India even the next day or the over the next few months or even after 50 years. People were happy then and even today. You can't force people to wave a flag of their country if it was occupied forcefully.

The majority of sikkim's leadership and sikkim population were already in favour of the merger that's why it took place. You can't force people to live under you. For example kashmir

selling for money? 😂 Sikkim was already a protectorate under British India.Plans to merge sikkim with India were already raised in 1948 by tashi tshering when India itself was a poor country.That demand was merely fulfilled in 1975 with tax benefits being granted at the very end
