@SandwichesJill I understand and agree with you. But if you didn’t like those versions then you should have spoken with your wallet. I saw the first one and didn’t even watch the trailers for the rest. And judging Cregger’s version before you’ve seen it isn’t going to help the situation.

This doesn't make any fucking sense when those of us who grew up playing the franchise have always asked for a proper adaptation but all we got was live action slop & mid at best CGI films.

@SpIinterCaI nailed it. their lack of talent/quality control lead to the PWSA movies being loose adaptations. which is why people are grumpy now that this isn’t one. capcom at fault too.

I think the thing with Cregger’s Resident Evil is that it’s fair for fans to want something actually set in the universe. I think everybody would. The issue is that isn’t Cregger’s fault, it’s an awful deal between Capcom and Constantin.

@MTGraveStudio There’s less of a narrative for MK. Barely any really. Since it was a fighting game it didn’t need one. And to be fair to the PWSA movies, they did fairly well at the box office despite being not great. I blame Capcom for not doing a strict adaptation out of the gate.

You know why there's no controversy over the Mortal Kombat movies.. Because they look and feel like Mortal Kombat. Crazy I know. Someone should ask them how they pulled it off since I'm being told it's impossible to adapt games to film

@SuperButterBuns No one said the movie will be outright bad. The fact that the director said he was going to make this movie with or without the RE IP, meaning it will be a bad RE as the backdrop of the franchise was never the original intent.

The Resident Evil fandom suddenly having a high adaptation standard is incredibly funny considering the previous films. Like here is a director with nothing but a good track record, but no, THIS one will be the worst for sure, they say

@one_big_boss You’re correct in that sentiment. Capcom selling the rights to hacks with no oversight/standards has caused this stupid debate we are dealing with. That being said, this movie will be good.

Honestly, if fans had gotten proper adaptations of Resident Evil in the past and it finished up, ended, closed out that chapter, then years later when its rebooted by people who wanna do there own thing, cool. Because then the fans get what they want and new fans or casual fans get what they want. I dont understand why people don't get the simple concept of it.
